ALHEEEENA!
okay. time for an update. lets start from monday. mind you all everything is a summary, so not every detail will be included.
monday. report to school early in the morning. very sleepy. so we learnt the mass dance for Mambo Number 5. that part was fun. since the orientation is compulsory for all freshies, even the three months freshies had to join in. i realise something abt mj after hearing what happened at the tpj orientation. the ppl in mj are super 'on' and really united. so part of the orientation slogan is true. 'Unidad De Estrellas'. in other words, unity of stars. the unity part is fine, its the stars part that bothers me. reminds me too much of the major event in prcs in 2002. simply put, i'm sick of stars since then.
thats besides the point. anyways, on monday, we had Know Your Campus (KYC). so ya, ran round the school trying to complete tasks. blah blah. very tiring. in the end my OG (Alhena) came in 4th. thats that, went home and KO-ed late, though i was tired.
Tuesday. again, came early in the morning. this time i was in a super depressed and grumpy mode cos i didn't get enough sleep. talk abt being cranky. so then just aft we changed our OHL started scolding us. said that Alhena should be 1st and that 4th was peanuts. since i was already in a bad mood, it made me even more cranky. then the so-called 'Godfather' of Alhena came to speak to us. Kai Sheng was great, he really lightened the mood up considerably. i felt a lil better but still cranky. we also learnt the steps for the 'Let's Get It Started' mass dance. that one was particularly tricky. aft that we had MMM. that was really crazy. we cheered so much until we got complaints from the residents. i also ran like mad, trying to keep up with Andy, my OGL. we had many many gross stunts to complete (passing peanut butter with our elbows, rolling on the void deck floor while cheering etc etc) and by the last station was completed, i was completely pancit. my back started hurting and i couldn't run. whatever it is, Alhena came in 3rd this time, and the OGLs as well as the OHLs were happy with us. i wasn't bothered abt that, i was more bothered with getting home and into my rest position. i KO-ed around 8 + pm since i was so exhausted.
Wednesday. final day of orientation. so i came early again. reported for wet games. i was one of the wettest. lol. was very funny. the OGLs really kena bullied badly. and i think by the end of the wet games the other OGs thought that Alhena was the mat OG bcos of our weird malay cheers. i like the malay cheers alot, they are really very cool. we came in 3rd again, aft that we had the CCA thing. i signed up for Band (what else, lol) and College Publications. i also found out during the CCA time that there were quite a few students in MJ who know me. i also met quite alot of my former EPPS mates there. namely, Anting, Radheiyah, Izzat, and a few more. most of them are in Arts too. later we had to settle the performance for the campfire. My OG Alhena 5 had the worst job cos we had to do a Bollywood dance and we had no radio to work with. Vimala really did a great job in suggesting the steps. Vanessa, Kelvin, KZ and myself sorta led the rest. but it was really difficult, we had around 1 hr left and we had no steps at all, our members were disappearing and we had no cd player. i talked to Wee Cheng awhile. he sorta gave me some assurance that it won't be so bad in mj, anyways, i'm not transferring to tpjc. we also talked abt how lil ppl there were from prcs that wanted to study in mj. aft that we got our cd player and finally got cracking. i led the dance, being in front, and nearly choked shouting out the instructions and timing. my gdness, i've never had so bad a time leading ppl in my entire life. in the end we did get something together. aft that we had our dry run of the whole performance. the campfire was quite ok, though i nodded off during some performances since i didn't know what was happening or what they ppl were mumbling abt. Alhena was very hyped up and guess what, we came in FIRST for the campfire, but lost to Vega in the overall scores. oh well, at least we got second. Kai Sheng, for one, was a very happy man. i'm happy for him lar, i mean, can see that he really worked his butt off during orientations. and frm experience, i also know that its ALWAYS more tiring for the councillors than for the participants during the orientations. there's alot that goes on behind the scenes, and the council ppl have to always be the earliest to go there and the latest to leave. i think they really did a good job on the orientation. during the area cleaning the Alhenians really lost it. we had the special, and very difficult task of transporting the stage back to where it was taken. so we were cheering like mad, screaming like mad, doing everything very crazily, banging on the wood. lol. like Jasha said ' I think the Alhenians have finally lost it'. i went home really late.
today. lectures. i missed AO Math since i came late but when i collected the notes i realised that i din have to attend it at all since it was all really easy. the A Math stuff that i CAN handle, as in, simultaneous linear equations, venn diagrams. so i waited with Jasha in the library until 11 for the Geog lecture. for now, i think Geog is one of the coolest subs that i take. the lecturer reminds me alot of Mr Chua Chye Hock, my fave sc teacher which makes it even cooler. its weird, i could swear they are relatives or something. so anyways, we learnt Coastal Geomorphology. (is that spelt right) waves. and i thought i had escaped physics. apparently NOT. but still, i'm thankful Mr Collin (aka Mr Very LAME) taught me well, esp on the waves topic. so i could catch things quite fast.
the Lit lecture was very fun as well, esp when she told us we're doing King Lear. i've read it before and its sooo nice. so glad that we're confirmed on that one. the Gothic part sounds interesting as well, but i'll have to wait till i really get down to work before i can say anything.
Econs, now that was a horrible lecture. sure i could understand, sure i could grasp the concept. i just didn't like the delivery of the lesson. the lecturer spoke to us sounded as if he though that we were a bunch of potatoheads or something. darn it darn it.
the last lecture of the day was PW. that was the most hilarious one. Vanessa and me were laughing away with the rest of the LT. lol. but i shan't bother explaining, it was really funny if you had been there.
and now i'm home, waiting for 11. till next time, nitenite
